They are PVC figurines, not die-cast metal of course, and I prepped my 4.5-year old before buying them that the wheels won't move and asked him if it was OK? With the heads-up, there was no letdown afterward, and he was just happy he got 10 cars at once, including his favorites Carla Veloso and Jeff Gorvette (he already has McQueen and Francesco that move). First thing he did when he got home, jumped into the bathtub where he played with his cars until he turned into a raisin. Even with bubbles in his bath, he could still "see" his play cars because they all float and maintain right-side-up position, except for Francesco (his shape doesn't lend itself to floating) (Carla and Shu sort of float but their large rear end with tail-fin configuration cause their back halves to submerge). Other rubber bath cars/trucks from other manufacturers don't stay right side up but tilt or flip in the water. Also, other kinds of plastic Disney Cars toys with stickers for eyes lose their eyes with repeated water exposure of course as the stickers aren't waterproof, but not these PVC figurines. They will be the most durable tub toys. They slide pretty well on carpet too, but of course, they don't roll on hardwood. We all know die-cast cars will burn a hole in your pocket, but this set will give you access to many cars for just $1-2/car that you don't ever have to worry about damage to wheels/moving parts. -- By Racks (Calif, USA)
